chignon

A chignon is a popular type of hairstyle. The word “chignon” comes from the French phrase “chignon du cou,” which means nape of the neck. Chignons are generally achieved by pinning the hair into a knot at the nape of the neck or at the back of the head, but there are many different variations of the style.

You can get the look in three steps:

Step 1
Tie a low ponytail, either to the side or in the center.
Step 2
Wind your ponytail in your hand to create a twisted effect.
Step 3
Keeping your hair twisted, wrap it around a hairband then fix in place with grips.

* For a messy look, pull a few strands out to hang loose.

Or add three more steps. It's really the same thing as the three step, but with more words.

  1. Brush into a low ponytail.
  2. Secure it at the nape of your neck.
  3. Wrap the ponytail around the base
  4. Tie second elastic around the bun.
  5. Secure the sides with bobby pins, tucking them into the bun to conceal.
  6. Use your fingers and pull a few stands of hair out and lightly spray with hairspray.

Funny, the first time I heard that word was when I was 17 years and a man who was in the military told me my hair which was long (shoulder length) would look lovely in a chignon! I didn't have a clue at that time what he was even talking about!!! But he definitely knew all about HAIR!

A is for Aspirin and ASS. It's beginning to feel a lot like the 1950's for women these days. Case in point, Foster Friess. He's the primary supporter of a pro-Santorum super political action committee. He  suggested on MSNBC that women use Bayer aspirin as a contraceptive.  Wow.  “This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it’s so expensive,” he told host Andrea Mitchell . “Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.” In case your not completely clear on Satorum's view on contraception: Santorum has said that he is "not a believer in birth control" and believes it is "harmful" to both women and society.  And in October, Santorum discussed the "dangers" of contraception with an evangelical blog. "Many in the Christian faith have said, 'Well, that's okay. Contraception's okay," he said. "It...

The author of searching and often dark meditations on universal themes, he is a quintessentially modern poet in his adherence to language as it is actually spoken, in the psychological c...
