hush... hush, sweet charlotte......sville

 * Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte is a 1964 American thriller film directed by Robert Aldrich, and starring Bette Davis, Olivia de Havilland, Joseph Cotten, and Agnes Moorehead.

* Charlottesville is an independent city in the eastern foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Central Virginia. It has an incredibly rich history. Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson, as well as the renowned University of Virginia.

* The film begins in 1927 with Charlotte Hollis (Bette Davis) and married lover, John Mayhew (Bruce Dern), planning to elope during a party at the Hollis antebellum mansion in Louisiana. However, John backs out after Charlotte's father intimidates him into it. John is then brutally murdered and decapitated in the summerhouse with a cleaver, with one hand severed. Charlotte discovers the body and returns traumatized to the party with a blood-stained dress, leading most to presume she was the murderer.

Charlottesville is a really wonderful town with great food, shopping, art, music, theater, and lots of parallel parking. I mention the parking because I CAN parallel park, just not with an audience. So, I ordered everyone out of the car. Ten minutes later, I parked perfectly.
But, the best thing in Charlottesville is my youngest daughter (she attends UVA). We had a visit and took some snap shots of a few things we saw, ate, drank, and purchased! LOVE.

I bought a pair of Toms shoes, cool and comfy.  So I took a snap. The artwork in the back ground of my feet in a pair of Toms, is the work of Geoffrey Culbertson. When you buy a pair of Toms shoes a child in need gets a pair too, check it out. LOVE.

  • Shabby chic is a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their age and signs of wear and tear or new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique.
  • Feminine design style inspired by thrift store and antique finds, usually themed in light neutral colors.
  •
  • Pretty.

Below is a home in transition. The changes have started on the second floor with the bedrooms, two of  four are complete. I couldn't wait to share the results! Soft blues and grays with mirrored cabinets and beautiful bedding represent the best of shabby chic. The lovely rooms below are the work and vision of my sister (one of five). Mama would be proud sis. Sweet dreams.

LOVE.

The bedding is from anthropologie, perfect right?

Butterflies fly free.

I love the color of this room, soft gray and blue. Gorgeous.

The velvet chair is a perfect addition to the room.

pablo picasso and a boy

cubism *  a term coined in 1908 by Louis Vauxcelles to describe the modern art of Picasso and Braque. These artists refuted traditional perspective and broke the planes of the composition into interlocking facets thereby fragmenting and disintegrating the image.

Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain. From an early age he displayed great talent for painting and began displaying his work from the age of 14. To further his artistic aspiration he left Spain for Paris where he became part of a new avant-garde movement of art.
In his late teens his paintings were dominated by different shades of blue; they were also often melancholic. This was called his "blue period".

By 1907, Picasso had developed a new form of painting known as 'cubism' This involved capturing the essence of the subject on the canvas but exaggerating certain features.

A boy was born on September 26, 2005 in Chicago, Illinois. He loves learning about Pablo Picasso. He's working on learning to read and building legos. He is currently in his 'own' blue period. Blue being one of his favorite colors.
