perfectly imperfect

perfect : being entirely without fault or defect
corresponding to an ideal standard or abstract concept
imperfect : not perfect

subjective: Proceeding from or taking place in a person's mind rather than the external world: a subjective decision.

Particular to a given person; personal: subjective experience.

 * Many years ago I bought a prefect painting of fruit,  not one blemish on the pears, blackberries or grapes. I saved for months to purchase it. It came into my home and stayed only a few weeks.... 'Cause every time I looked at it, perfection bounced back and hit me right between my substantial (better to hear you with) ears. Turns out, I can't live with perfection. I prefer things just a little off - it can be in color or scale or just the unexpected.  Not the whole room, mind you, but I must have something to look at that reflects me. Perfectly Imperfect.

Perfection, like beauty is subjective (thank goodness). To each his own.

Lauren Hutton (PIP Love her)

My all time favorite PIP - our boy Cody. He was born a perfect Golden to a breeder who had him on a fast track to the dog show circuit. Then, he lost a tooth. His loss our gain. He could snatch a loaf of Challah bread off a table quicker than you could scream Oy Vey!
We lost him this time last year, there will never be another perfectly - imperfect boy like him.  LOVE

Perfection has one grave defect: it is apt to be dull.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

As much as I try, perfection not me at all. I love asymmetrical, like Lauren Hutton. Confidence is purely perfect.
I now call the perfect/imperfect things I do, happy accidents. Cause they are.
Just love this post also. It is PERFECT.

  6. I am so with you....I like things just a little off too. It's so boring to see things when they are too perfect. I similarly bought a perfect painting a few years back, only to find that I can't even look at it now, it just bores me... Perfectly imperfect is just perfect! xx anastasia

  7. Well, Jane you hit the nail right on the head! I have always said there is perfection in the imperfect! I always loved the squeaky tread on our old staircase...it was somehow comforting. The older I get the more I love the old, worn, rustic things. Buying something new just doesn't feel right anymore. There are so many wonderful items out there that have such interesting history surrounding them.

I love the photo of Old Montreal, the rustic table and your sweet Cody who lost his tooth making him imperfect to breeders but perfect for you and your family. I'm so sorry about the loss of Cody and I know how it feels to lose a pet. I've lost 2 dogs now. Both imperfect but perfect for me. We lost our Josie in June 3 years ago and Tyson 13 years ago. I miss them both.

Now that I have totally depressed you and myself I shall leave it at that and hope you have a great week.

a different kind of pop art

* dad , daddy , pa , papa, pop *my pop is the father of six girls and a self taught artist. One of my first memories of his art is a mural he did in charcoal on a large red wall in our living room. It was a stagecoach with horses, it seemed to jump off the wall into the room.  I loved it. He also created  a barn 'look' on the second floor landing of our house. Complete with split rail fencing used for the stair rail - the only thing between us and certain death was termite ridden timber. But, it looked fabulous! Our house had only one bathroom and with seven females in the house including my Mom, you can imagine how my Dad felt the need to make his mark (so to speak) in the one room he really had no control over. T hus, began our summer spent retrieving rocks from the river; for what would become the most famous bathroom in town. It was a good size room with a long wall of mirrors, a claw foot tub, the essential toilet and a window.  Pop's idea was to

With a stack of pretty paper squares and double stick tape - my closet/dressing room is starting to take shape.      The funky light is an old metal basket with a filament blub (a flea find.)  The paper squares are normally used for scrapbooking. I'll add photos and art.  TA DA ...My very own scrapbook wall! The art (Lovely As A Tree) peeking thru the light fixture is by A.L. Burke. The sign on the door stated no kids, but the boy and I went in anyway. He held my hand, we smiled at the lady with the stern look and walked right to the table where this and two other belts were. I didn't decide right away and thought we should keep moving before we were asked to leave and I could think about w
