let there be light





A light fixture is an electrical device used to create artificial light and/or illumination. A luminaire is a lighting fixture complete with the light source or lamp, the reflector for directing the light, an aperture (with or without a lens), the outer shell or housing for lamp alignment.

There are some wonderful lighting companies around, you can find lots of options at any lighting store. Some of my favorites are Curry, Visual Comfort, and Hudson. But, my all time favorite fixtures are vintage. They usually need to be rewired, but otherwise are very cool and have  history . I also love artist who design light fixtures, and Ikea is always a great source as evidenced below. Have fun with lighting, it can illuminate and also be fabulous to look at.

Two crystal star busts were found at a consignment shop, hanging above a kitchen island. I love the formal look of these.

* dad , daddy , pa , papa, pop *my pop is the father of six girls and a self taught artist. One of my first memories of his art is a mural he did in charcoal on a large red wall in our living room. Put 'em Up! Unless you've been sequestered in your home with no TV, radio, or Internet you know the nation's leading breast-cancer charity, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, has announced that it will end its longtime partnership with the Planned Parenthood.  Komen has been criticized in the past for donating to Planned Parenthood. The official response has always been that, despite the controversy surrounding some of its programs, the organization was the only one working to provide breast-health services to women in need in dozens of communities around the United States. Why the change of heart?  Officials cited a new internal policy that makes any organization under official investigation ineligible for grant money.  Um, Really? hip to be square

With a stack of pretty paper squares and double stick tape - my closet/dressing room is starting to take shape.      The funky light is an old metal basket with a filament blub (a flea find.)  The paper squares are normally used for scrapbooking.
